Laguiole en Aubrac Le Buron Cheese Knife, Juniper Wood
This Laguiole juniper cheese knife, called Le Buron, has a curved juniper wood handle. Laguiole en Aubrac handcrafts it in France with a blade designed to cut cheese easily.
The handle sweeps up in a long arc, and the blade curves gently to match. Juniper is golden with small dark knots. On a cheese board, it looks like a small piece of sculpture.
The blade is 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel, designed to cut cheese effortlessly. The knife rests neatly on a counter or cutting board. The blade is 5.1 inches (13 cm), and the knife is 11.5 inches (29 cm) overall. Each piece is assembled from start to finish in one sequence by a single artisan. It comes in an oak wood box with a certificate of authenticity. It is made in the village of Espalion, in the historic Laguiole area of France.
Set it beside a wheel of Laguiole or a wedge of Comté at the end of dinner. You can give it to anyone who builds a proper cheese course.
